Joe Horton is a member of Koa’s Advisory Board, a former college baseball player, the father of a Koa athlete and a strong member of the Koa community. Growing up, travel baseball was an important influence for Joe and his brother. The Koa Sports Joe Horton Scholarship Fund¬†
Koa Sports League has a scholarship program to promote the benefits of playing travel youth baseball and softball to families and players who are in need of financial assistance. Full and partial scholarships are made available for those that qualify based on the criteria below. Levels of assistance will vary from year to year and are based on funds available through Koa and continued contributions. Awards are at the full discretion of the Koa Sports League Board of Directors and the Koa Scholarship Committee, which reserves the right to fund any Applicant based on financial and/or socioeconomic hardship, and/or other circumstances deemed relevant or applicable and presented to the Committee.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Completed Application Form, (See below for complete instructions)
2. Have tried out for, and are offered a roster spot on any of the Koa Travel Baseball or Softball Teams, 9U through 18U
3. Maryland, Virginia, and/or DC resident who meet Federal Housing and Urban Development low income guidelines for the MD-VA-DC area. (Applicant will be required to show proof of income)
4. Scholarship funds shall be distributed to cover direct program costs, including, but not limited to, uniforms, fields, league fees, etc. On no occasion will cash be distributed to any applicant or their parents and/or guardians. Ancillary costs will still be required to be covered by the applicant, including transportation, meals, snacks, etc.
